Circus-secondary studies
Description: This study program is based on the physical, artistic and technical development of the student. Studies are focused on fundamental abilities in the basic disciplines of the circus arts.
Objectives:
- Develop and consolidate physical qualities and general abilities that later lead to an increased specialization in the field of choice.
- Develop one’s artistic sense. Learn to use one’s body as a means of expression and communication.
- Learn to work with various trainers and develop one’s openness towards others.
- Develop autonomy, self-awareness, self-respect, respect of others, and team skills.
Targeted Clients: Students enrolled in an arts & study type program at the high school level.
Schedule: Monday through Friday from 1:30 to 5:10 for those in secondary I-II-III and from 1:30 to 5:40 for those in secondary IV-V.
Program Duration: 1-5 years, 35 weeks per year.
Technical Studies: Students in secondary I-II-III do the general study program, while those in secondary IV-V will concentrate on three disciplines of their choice.
Artistic Studies: In the form of weekly classes in contemporary dance, classical dance for secondary I-III and theatrical studies for secondary IV-V.
Workshops: These various workshops are inserted periodically to complete the study program. They consist of various activities such as: theoretical classes, trying out of circus apparatuses (secondary IV-V), or research or creation periods.
Public Presentation: Once a year in December, secondary I-II-II are grouped by discipline, secondary IV-V by their choice.
End of Year Show: Series of 4 to 6 representations of a staged show with participation of counsellors, costumes, music, set… in a theater that can hold up to 600 spectators.

- Physical preparation
- Attitude (openness, constancy, effort)
- Circus techniques
- Artistic aspects
Special Activities: All year long, students have the opportunity to participate in various activities offered by the École, such as going to see shows, participating in exchange projects or in other special events…
Special Awards: Every year, the École awards the students that best represent it’s six values: creativity, openness, respect, autonomy, enthusiasm and achievement.
Admission: Yearly audition.
