Description: This study program is based on the realization of a personally created project in a specialized technique for those who wish to pursue their career in the circus.

The pedagogical committee determines the technical and artistic support the project requires and allots it as necessary. The team meets on a monthly basis to assess the project’s progress, to focus on particular objectives and to support the realization of the project. Students must complete their education with the choice of two complementary techniques.

Targeted Clients: People age 16 and older who are conspicuous by their work’s intensity and their technical and artistic capacity.

Schedule: Class program from Monday through Friday from 9:10 through 4:50.

Program Duration: Three years, 35 weeks per year.

Artistic Studies: In the form of weekly classes in contemporary dance, classical dance and theatrical studies.

Workshops: Artistic workshops and theoretical classes directly related to the profession of circus artist.

Physical Preparation: A general, specific and preventive program of physical preparation, with individualized content.

Student follow-up: All students must keep a log book and present monthly reports on their project status. This serves to assess, evaluate, question and orient the work of the coming weeks.

Public Presentation: Once a year in December. There is the possibility of multiple presentations during the year before the team of trainers and other students.

End of Year Show: Series of 4 to 6 representations of a staged show with participation of counsellors, costumes, music, set… in a theater that can hold up to 600 spectators.

Evaluation: On an annual basis, to ratify or reorient the project. The following figure in the periodical evaluations:

  • Physical preparation
  • Attitude (openness, constancy, effort)
  • Circus techniques
  • The artistic section

Creation of new apparatus: When the project requires the creation of a new circus apparatus, students are in charge of the process. They are responsible for the evaluation of their project, of the quality of the design and of the project’s financing. The École participates in the project and can support the students’ research, design and realization of a prototype.

Diploma: The student is awarded the Diploma of collegial studies or the École’s diploma.
